PT Tutoring safety guide

What we do to keep our tutors and clients safe:

We screen our clients to protect our tutors by requesting for a physical address from all the clients who requires a face to face tutoring and we also require upfront payment to ensure our clients are legitimate.

We screen our tutors to protect our clients by gathering contact details, physical address, education history and relevant experience from our tutors; All tutors tutoring minors are required to complete a background check before they start tutoring and we review each applicant's identification documents, qualifications and school leaving certificates.

The selection of Tutors for a job is based on gender, age, location and other relevant factors. If a female tutor is tutoring a male adult (over 18 years), the tutor will be briefed before accepting the client. If the tutor takes the job, they are required to notify their next of kin as to the lesson time and location of lesson.

We manage the tutoring process by disclosing necessary information like contact details to both tutor and student once the tutor accepts the student. We contact the client and tutor after the first lesson to ensure the client is happy with the lesson. If the client is unhappy with a tutor or vice versa, we endeavour to change the tutor first, failing which we stop future lessons and refund the client.

Risks to be aware of

Traveling to unsafe areas

Damage to musical instruments

Stalking or inappropriate messaging

Bogus clients with sinister intentions

Theft

Sexual harassment

Other serious crimes

Please note: If you think you might be at risk, contact your allocated tutoring representative immediately. If the risk is too high, contact the South African Policy immediately. All tutors should get a policy clearance first before tutoring a minor.
